Every town in Wales has its own unique event, such as Hay-on-Wye's Book Festival and the Brecon Jazz Festival but Llangollen is more than a cut above the rest by having not one but several major festivals and a number of smaller events.
Royal Pavillion

Most famous of all is of course the International Musical Eisteddfod, which has attracted thousands of visitors and competitors from around the world since its inception in 1947.

Now also renowned for its week of quality evening concerts, the town of Llangollen is literally buzzing for one week each July.

But there is much, much more !

The Llangollen Fringe is now the longest festival of its type in Wales. Like all good fringes, the festival was set up to run as an alternative during the Eisteddfod week but now starts the week after and runs into August!

Other musical high-lights include Llangollen's very own Jazz Festival and a string of fascination concerts at the Llangollen International Pavilion throughout the whole year.

But it's not all about music. The town's Balloon Festival is firmly fixed in the late summer calendar, attracting crowds in their thousands over the weekend.

With spectacular shaped balloons taking to the air of the Dee Valley and fascinating arena displays, it's no wonder it's so popular.

The Gardening Show is probably the newest kid on the block but what a weekend it proves to be! You name it this show's got it with gardeners from far and wide bringing their green fingers with them and mucking in !!

Food festivals are always extremely popular and Llangollens is no different. The event now completely fills the Royal International Pavilion, so much so that some of the shows mouth-watering cooking displays are in the town itself!

Then there is the Christmas Festival. This may only last one day but it's keeping the Welsh tradition of Sion Corn (the original spirit of Christmas, or Santa in green!) alive. Thousands descend on the town each year to witness his very special parade, which has been known to include a real reindeer or two!!

There are new and exciting events and festivals being developed in the town all the time and we'll make sure you'll be the first to know about them so visit this site regularly.
