No successful festival town is complete without its very own Fringe, and Llangollen is no exception.
From its very humble beginnings in an old weavers shed some 10 years ago,
The Llangollen Fringe has developed into one of the most successful events of its type anywhere in the U.K.
Originally run during the week of the
Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, it has become so big that it now occupies 10 days immediately after the event and is still growing!
In fact the Fringe now takes place throughout July and into the beginning of August, making it the longest festival in Wales!
The festivals main venue is now the impressive Victorian Llangollen Town Hall, which boasts its very own 300 seat capacity theatre and was the scene of the town's own music hall in years gone by.
This ensures the whole festival is town centre based, giving great access to local pubs, cafes, restaurants and especially car parks!
The festival has always had an eclectic bill of new and established artists from around the world. Past performers have included Cerrys Matthews, The Incontinentals, Katchafire, Captain Sensible and The Damned, Clement Freud, Leslie Garrett and even Nicholas Parsons!!
As well as live music the festival has strong tradition in comedy and dance, especially the comedy nights, which are always eagerly anticipated.
