Llangollen Town Hall (originally the Assembly Rooms and Market Hall) was built by Morris Roberts in 1867. The Market Hall was open to the street but the arches were later filled in to make the shops we see today. Upstairs there is a small theatre space, which is used for several events, including plays, concerts, musicals, keep-fit and the Country Market on Friday mornings from March to Christmas. The Town Hall also houses the Town Clerk's office and the Council Chamber. The building was transferred from the ownership of Denbighshire County Council to Llangollen Town Council in 2012.  Although the fabric of the building is reasonably sound, it is in need of refurbishment and the newly-formed Town Hall Management Committee will be seeking grant-funding to restore it to its former glory. There is also a voluntary group, the Friends of Llangollen Town Hall, who raise money to pay for facilities such as extra staging, stage curtains, improved lighting etc. Another group, Cittaslow Llangollen, is dedicated to winning Cittaslow status for the town.  For more information visit: www.cittaslow.llangollentowncouncil.co.uk. We are very proud of the Tidy Town Team, which is a band of dedicated local people who do a variety of jobs in and around the town as well as helping to steward events throughout the year.
