The Bridge End Hotel is exactly that - a hotel at the end of Llangollen Bridge!

That said, there’s a great difference in the ages of the two structures, with the hotel probably dating from the time of the railway arriving in the town in the 1860s, making it some 500 years younger than its near neighbour!

As a probable railway hotel it would have served visitors to the town from the very near railway station, now home to the heritage Llangollen Railway.

Its position also affords superb views up the main shopping street of the town, Castle Street which leads away from the opposite side of the bridge. This wonderful black and white building has become a landmark of its own over recent years, especially since the International Eisteddfod began in 1947.

Thanks to the festival, and in particular the Parade of Nations which winds its way through the town on the opening day, the Bridge End Hotel has become one of the most photographed buildings in Wales!
